Three friends for Rathie and Wasana
First results after our crowdfunding campaign RATHIE NEEDS LOVE: three more friends for Rahtie and her calf Wasana were brought to THE GARDEN ESTATE!
The cow, bull and calf were given to us by friends of the family, only had to pay for the transport. The cow was saved from the slaughterhouse and shall have a long and happy life at THE GARDEN ESTATE now. Besides Nilantha is collecting building materials for the cow barn so we can let the rest of the funding goal become reality. |

Planning a cow barn
Suresh just drew the plan for the new cow barn for Rathie and her friends.
The barn should be about 80 square meters, can accommodate 10 cows and has a small storage area (for tools, milk cans, etc.) . It is planned very open, so that no excessive heat may build up and the cows "in principle" stand outside, just having a roof over their heads and dry feet. We had a wonderful start with the campaign, but we still need 3,000 EUR until the end of June to get the whole thing going, so please help us to let this become reality by supporting our crowdfunding campaign either financially or by spreading the word. More volunteers and crowdfunding countdown
After an inspiring visit at our friends place Belipola, Anastasia came back to help for a few days. In the meantime Carly from the USA arrived and they had some fun doing some touch ups at the family house with clay... :)
We have been announcing it for quite some time, but it looks like we will be finally ready to launch our first crowdfunding campaign in only a few days. Please check FUNDING during the next weeks, we'll keep you posted! The goal is to collect money to build a proper barn for our cows and bring in some cow friends for Rathie and Wasana, because: RATHIE NEEDS LOVE! |

We present: The first volunteer
This week we welcomed the first volunteer Anastasia (24 years) from Malta at
THE GARDEN ESTATE! She's doing a great job, working hard on banana circles (a planting method from permaculture) and daily tasks! So happy to have her around! Little side note: Our fruit trees as well as Wasana, our calf, are growing well. We hope everyone had a wonderful Sri Lankan New Year! |
